ZimVie Announces Launch of Next-Generation TSX™ Implant in the United States

Posted on Friday, November 4, 2022

Newest innovation in ZimVie’s digital dentistry platform is designed for immediacy and peri-implant health

ZimVie Inc. (Nasdaq: ZIMV), a global life sciences leader in the dental and spine markets, today announced the launch of the TSX Implant in the United States, the latest innovation in the company’s platform of surgical, restorative, and digital dentistry solutions. TSX Implants are designed for immediate extraction and loading protocols as well as placement predictability and primary stability in soft and dense bone. The TSX Implant incorporates features with more than two decades of real-world, clinical data to deliver peri-implant health, crestal bone maintenance, long-term osseointegration, and prosthetic stability.1-8, 11-13* Integrated with ZimVie’s end-to-end digital workflows and engineered with surgical and restorative versatility, the TSX Implant furthers ZimVie’s commitment to simplify procedures and optimize practice protocols.

The TSX Implant made its debut last week at the American Academy of Periodontology’s annual meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, and follows ZimVie’s joint launch of the T3® PRO Tapered Implant and Encode® Emergence Healing Abutment in June 2022.

“I am pleasantly surprised how easily the TSX Implants engaged at the apex in extraction sites and was excited to see 50 Ncm (newton centimeters) of torque using the new extraction protocol,” said Julius Bunek, DDS, MS, PLLC in Ann Arbor, Michigan. “Further, I was impressed with how well the implant followed the planned path of insertion and did not track off course. This implant’s compatibility with my existing surgical and prosthetic instrumentation along with the new design features are just some of the reasons I plan to use this system in my practice.”

The TSX Implant utilizes a contemporary hybrid of ZimVie’s proprietary dual acid-etched (DAE) and MTX™ surface technologies to balance peri-implant health needs in the coronal and sub-coronal regions.1-5, 11-13* Minimally rough coronal surfaces like DAE may lower the risk of biofilm formation and peri-implantitis while offering excellent osseointegration potential to maintain crestal bone.1-5, 10-13* Meanwhile, the subcoronal MTX surface offers high osteoconductive potential with over two decades of clinical success.7, 8*

In addition to advanced surface technology, the TSX Implant’s progressive threads and taper are designed to follow the patient’s prepared osteotomy and provide a precisely positioned and aesthetically restored implant with high primary stability.1, 9*

“We created the TSX Implant to improve patient experience and enhance clinicians’ confidence in successful procedures that can be delivered more efficiently,” said Indraneel Kanaglekar, SVP and President of ZimVie Dental. “We continue to invest in bringing new, innovative products to market that broaden our suite of digitally integrated, efficient, and versatile workflows designed to improve patient health and satisfaction.”

ZimVie’s next-generation implant is compatible with the Encode® Emergence 3-in-1 Healing Abutment, Impression Coping, and Scanbody System. To help the surgeon master immediate implants with greater efficiency and more predictability, the TSX Implant is surgically compatible with familiar soft and dense bone protocols, existing tools, and the company’s digital dentistry platform.

Pulpdent Celebrates 75th Anniversary as a Leader in Dental Product Research, Sales, and Manufacturing

Posted on Thursday, November 3, 2022

Looking to the future, Pulpdent continues to grow and introduce new products—ones that empower dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants to reach higher standards of dental care

Pulpdent Corporation is pleased to announce that 2022 marks 75 years as a leading company in the global dental industry. Building on a legacy of advances in dental research, Pulpdent is poised to maintain its position as a top manufacturer and seller of dental restorative materials, prevention products, and supplies. The company also plans to introduce a series of new products in the coming years that will help raise standards in dental care.

As part of the 75th anniversary, Pulpdent has issued a new commemorative catalog that features engaging stories and previously unreleased images of Pulpdent's rich history.

"We are grateful to all who have supported us in reaching this important milestone," says Pulpdent President Fred Berk. "We have undertaken many long-term ventures in dental materials research. It has been gratifying to watch our R&D team strike new ground, particularly in bio-interactive materials that work with nature to benefit teeth and overall oral health. Today, these hard-won advances benefit clinicians and their patients worldwide."

A History of Innovation and Responsible Growth

Founded in 1947 by Dr. Harold Berk, an innovator in calcium hydroxide materials for vital pulp therapy and root canal therapy, Pulpdent remains a family-owned company well known for its innovations in dental material science. Today, Pulpdent employs more than 125 people and manufactures its diverse product portfolio in Watertown, Massachusetts, USA.

"We have concentrated on steady, sustainable growth that will ensure the long-term vitality of the business," says Pulpdent Vice President Don Berk. "But even more importantly, we have held ourselves accountable to the core principles that were championed my father, Dr. Harold Berk, who never compromised patient care. He believed deeply in dentist education and authentic, long-term patient relationships. His spirit continues to fuel our passion to develop, manufacture, and sell products that save teeth and help patients live in comfort and smile with confidence."

Shifting the Dental Paradigm for a Better Standard of Care

Traditionally, dental products were designed to have a neutral existence, play a passive role, and do no harm. The idea was that this would make them more stable and durable. Pulpdent has worked to change the paradigm, developing smart dental materials that work in concert with natural biological processes to proactively support the health of teeth and the oral environment.

Pulpdent scientists pioneered moisture friendly dental resins and created a rubberized resin molecule for use in dental materials. These efforts fueled new product development and opened the door to modern-day bio-interactive dental materials, which Pulpdent helped introduce to dentistry in 2013. The company's first bio-interactive dental material, which received FDA approval to be termed "bioactive," was ACTIVA BioACTIVE-RESTORATIVE. ACTIVA will celebrate its 10th year in the marketplace in 2023.

"ACTIVA BioACTIVE materials have been well-received and have experienced growth every year," says Pulpdent Director of Sales Marcy Buckler. "Through a wide range of educational and sales programs, much of the dental community now understands ACTIVA's unique bioactive chemistry and how it actively helps patients' teeth and overall well-being."

Crysta MCP Technology Heralds New Product Advances

Pulpdent's latest proprietary innovation, Crysta MCP technology, was introduced in January 2022 after receiving a patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office in July 2021. Features of this groundbreaking technology include the following:

● Crysta has the ability to combat the primary causes of restorative failure for the lifetime of a restoration by releasing and recharging calcium, fluoride, and phosphate.

● Crysta allows for top-tier dental esthetics never before achieved in a bioactive material.

● The technology is emblematic of Pulpdent's sustained efforts to develop truly original materials that will benefit dental patients for their entire lives.

● Crysta is poised to power the next 10 years of product introductions for the company

● Crysta is immediately available in ACTIVA Presto universal light-cure composite and Lime-Lite Enhanced cavity liner.

"Our innovation stems from Pulpdent's genuine heart to care for people, beginning with the Pulpdent team," says Christie Bailey, Pulpdent Director of Professional Relations & International Business. "Optimal patient care is what inspired Dr. Harold Berk to establish Pulpdent 75 years ago, and it remains the driving force for our innovation to the future."

New Logo Symbolizes New Era of Commitment

As part of Pulpdent's 75th anniversary, the company has adopted a new logo and issued a special catalog that explores the company's evolution over the years. Pulpdent's new logo is part of an ongoing rebranding effort that began in 2022. It will be gradually implemented into packaging, marketing, and other corporate media going forward. The new logo is featured in the new Pulpdent 75th anniversary commemorative catalog, which is immediately available at https://www.pulpdent.com/product-catalog/.

"The Pulpdent logo transition symbolizes important changes within the company," says Pulpdent Director of Marketing Zachary Kulsrud. "It signals to the marketplace that Pulpdent has matured and accelerated its advances in dental material technology, which allow it to further advance its mission of saving teeth and helping patients smile with confidence. It also signals that its expanding leadership team is ready to take Pulpdent confidently into its next 75 years."

A Promising Future

"Looking ahead, we plan to build on our patented advancements in moisture-friendly resin, rubberized resin, and bioactive chemical technologies for dental composites," says Manager of Strategic Operations Lewis Berk. "It is an exciting time for the company and the dental professionals we serve. Moreover, it is an honor to continue to build upon the legacy of my grandfather and his vision of better dentistry for all."

Bio-LCB: Light Cured Base and Liner – Now Available

Posted on Wednesday, November 2, 2022

Bio-LCB™ - Light Cured Base and Liner

Bio-LCB was developed as a shock-absorbing protective base/liner under composites, amalgams, and other cement materials. Unlike other bases/liners, Bio-LCB provides superior strength, bonds to dentin, and promotes dentin remineralization. The proprietary UDMA-based formulation forms calcium hydroxide upon curing which results in an increase in pH. This action protects the pulp, stimulating pulpal cells to form dentin and decreases the risk of secondary decay. This unique composition also contains remineralizing agents which are released upon setting to form hydroxyapatite and further aid in the remineralization of the surrounding dentition.

Advanced Features Include:

• Bonds to dentin to prevent bacterial leakage and secondary decay

• Promotes reparative dentin remineralization

• Strong mechanical shock absorbing protection - bonds to dentin and restorative materials

• Low polymerization shrinkage

• Pulp protection and sensitivity reduction

Rock Dental Brands announces affiliation with Florida-based Coastline Orthodontics

Posted on Wednesday, November 2, 2022

Expansion represents entry into the Florida market

Rock Dental Brands announced today that it has affiliated with Coastline Orthodontics in Jacksonville, Fla. The move represents the dental practice management group’s entry into the Florida market. It now manages 102 dental offices in Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida. Rock Dental Brands is headquartered in Little Rock, Ark.

Rock Dental Brands has more than doubled its business and affiliated with 37 additional practices since 2019, and expansion is planned to continue. The dental and orthodontics practice management organization announced in September that it secured $45 million in credit commitments from Chicago-based Twin Brook Capital in order to help fund more growth.

"We are proud to partner with Coastline Orthodontics. Their values and standards for patient care make them a great partner for Rock and we are thrilled they are joining the team. We are focused on continued expansion of the brand, while never wavering in our commitment to offering the highest-possible quality for oral health care in our clinics,” said CEO Kristi Crum. “Rock Dental Brands will continue to invest in well-established and successful practices like Coastline Orthodontics. We are more than excited to become part of the team.”

Swiss Curaden and the ITI Cooperate

Posted on Wednesday, November 2, 2022

Two networks are coming together that complement each other perfectly and will have a strong impact worldwide: The world's leading oral hygiene and prevention company Curaden, with roots in Switzerland, and the International Team for Implantology (ITI) are making common cause. They want to work more closely together in the areas of education and recognition. Curaden is already a leader in the field of prophylaxis with its own academy and original training concept.

Curaden, the globally active oral hygiene company based in Switzerland, is further strengthening its core competence in prophylaxis: After extensive and persistent investments in its own Academy, in education and in its own iTOP training concept, Curaden is going one step further and beyond its own company boundaries. Curaden has found an exciting new partner in the International Team for Implantology (ITI), a leading academic organisation promoting evidence-based education and research in implant dentistry. Together, the partners, who have signed a sponsorship agreement, want to make greater advances in prevention and care. For example, the so-called peri-implantitis is to be combated. This destructive inflammatory process can attack the soft and hard tissues surrounding dental implants and is responsible for much personal suffering and high healthcare costs.

Curaden is one of the first sponsoring partners in a new ITI initiative aimed at building longer-term relationships with a small number of companies in the industry. Curaden, a Swiss company operating in more than 80 countries, will work more closely with the ITI for an initial period of three years. The agreement will primarily cover ITI congresses and symposia, as well as the provision of education materials to the ITI community in its field of expertise. Curaden thus joins a select group of companies known as industry partners of the ITI.

"This global ITI initiative is based on a modular sponsorship approach that allows us to address the individual needs of our sponsors," said Charlotte Stilwell, ITI President. "It represents a mutually beneficial, longer-term commitment made by carefully selected companies that share similar educational and scientific evidence-based principles as the ITI. We are delighted to welcome Curaden on board."

"For Curaden, this new collaboration is a big step in the right direction," says Curaden owner and CEO Ueli Breitschmid. "It will further develop our global network and strengthen the power we already have as a unique player in the fight for prevention thinking. Maintenance is an important topic, also for the ITI - this is where we can put a lot of our know-how. We will benefit from each other especially in education and in the area of appearances and recognisability - and that worldwide."
