MELVILLE, N.Y., Dec. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC), the world's largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, animal health and medical practitioners, is brightening the holidays this season for more than 1,000 children and their families with "Holiday Cheer for Children," a flagship program of Henry Schein Cares, the Company's global corporate social responsibility program.
Children and their families participating in the Holiday Cheer for Children program, now in its 16th year, are presented with clothing, toys, games and other gifts, purchased by Team Schein Members, who contribute their own time and money by sponsoring individual children. Food certificates to major supermarket chains are also presented to families in need through the program.
"Many of our families have participated in Henry Schein's Holiday Cheer for Children program for several years, and the parents' gratitude and the excitement and joy of their children demonstrate just how much they value and appreciate this program," said Lynne Campbell, Volunteer Coordinator at the Nassau County Department of Social Services. "Holiday Cheer for Children continues to bring happiness to families that often face some of their greatest financial hardships during the holiday season. We are all thankful to Henry Schein."
Each year, Henry Schein partners with local social service organizations at various company locations to help identify children and families who would benefit from participating in the Holiday Cheer for Children program. Henry Schein's largest event takes place at the Company's worldwide headquarters in Melville, N.Y., where Team Schein Members sponsored 615 children from Long Island. The celebration, themed this year around the popular Super Mario Bros. video-game franchise, featured a special dinner, a chocolate fountain, a cotton candy machine, Santa and Mrs. Claus, music and other games and festivities.
