Drs. Cory Glenn, DDS and Ben Kellum, DDS announce the grand opening of their new continuing education center specializing in digital dentistry, Transcend Dental Education. The center is unique in that participants can learn various dental procedures online or in a real-world clinical setting with patients in the chair. “This model of education allows us to offer the most advanced training in dentistry while providing low-to-no-cost care to the underserved of Alabama,” explained Dr. Glenn. Clinicians can choose from courses such as guided implant surgery, digital denture fabrication, full-mouth rehabilitation and more.
The doctors will focus their care efforts on specific patient populations, including those in substance use disorder recovery, veterans, and anyone who otherwise doesn’t have access to the quality treatment they need for good oral health and improved quality of life.
Both doctors are passionate about technology and understand how it can help facilitate providing inexpensive, quality care. “We see the ability for technology to help lower costs of dental treatment and give more patients access to better care,” Dr. Kellum explained. Several dental manufacturers including Axsys Dental Solutions and Blue Sky Bio have been moved to support the endeavor, donating products and equipment, including high-end technology. Several other manufacturers supporting the center will be announced in the coming weeks. “Our goal is to create a teaching facility with the latest and best in digital dental technology,” said Dr. Glenn “And there’s no way this model would work if these manufacturers didn’t step up to the plate. They’ve gotten behind us and they like the mission.”
The doctors hope their endeavor will help change the way new dentists think about the profession. They hope to inspire their peers and help them understand that compassionate, affordable care doesn’t have to come at the sacrifice of quality or financial success.
Transcend Education Goals:
• Create a low-cost community clinic that will provide advanced care to underserved populations in northern Alabama.
• Provide dental continuing education and digital dental lab services for financial stability, allowing the dental clinic to expand access to care.
• Use the platform to promote a narrative within the profession on how technology can be leveraged to provide compassionate, affordable care that doesn’t come at the sacrifice of quality or financial success.
