The International College of Dentists' (ICD) Global Visionary Fund received $3.6 million worth of personal protective equipment (PPE) from Henry Schein Cares, the global corporate social responsibility program of Henry Schein, Inc. The College is facilitating the disbursement of PPE to charitable projects and humanitarian missions around the world. The gloves, face shields, hand sanitizers, isolation gowns, thermometers and coveralls are essential materials that will allow oral health care to be safely delivered to underserved and struggling individuals and communities.
This is the largest donation ICD has ever received and the latest development in the decade-long, enduring relationship between the ICD and Henry Schein, Inc. "This donation reflects our continued sense of purpose and commitment to values that make the world a better place," said Stanley M. Bergman, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Henry Schein, Inc.
International ICD President Dr. Akira Senda noted, "We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Henry Schein for this magnificent contribution whose impact will be felt not only today but for years to come. I also want to acknowledge the outstanding Fellows of the ICD team who were responsible for the realization of this amazing initiative; Secretary General Dr. Joe Kenneally, Director of Communications and College Editor Dr. Dov Sydney, Director of Development Dr. Phillip Dowell, and Director of Operations Chelsea Segren."
The ICD Global Visionary Fund (GVF) supports humanitarian and educational oral health projects globally through grants, in-kind donations and volunteer connection. This collaborative PPE initiative with Henry Schein not only extends the support of the GVF, but also continues to strengthen the College's core values of humanitarianism and international relations.
