Admira Fusion x-tra

Posted on Friday, October 25, 2019

Single-Shade Omni-Chromatic Nano-ORMOCER Restorative

VOCO introduces Admira Fusion x-tra, the world’s first Single-Shade Omni-Chromatic Nano-ORMOCER restorative material, plus x-tra. Due to its unique composition, Admira Fusion x-tra can match the shade of the surrounding tooth structure, improving the speed and simplicity of the restorative procedure. Not only does this save time, it saves dental offices waste from having to buy multiple shades before inevitably throwing away unused or unpopular shades when they expire.

60% of the particulate that makes up Admira Fusion x-tra is between 20-40 nanometers in diameter, smaller than the wavelengths of visible light (approximately 400-700nm). As a result, Admira Fusion x-tra’s nano-particulate neither diffracts or refracts light. Instead, it allows the light to simply pass through uninterrupted and bounce off the surrounding tooth structure, causing the restoration to take on the shading and color of its surroundings, much like a chameleon blending into its environment.

The “x-tra” in Admira Fusion x-tra refers to enhanced physical properties. Due to Nano-ORMOCER technology, it has an extremely low shrinkage rate of 1.25% by volume and a shrinkage stress of up to 50% lower than other brands, meaning a lower rate of failure, greater longevity and ultimately less of a chance for patient discomfort. Admira Fusion x-tra’s extremely low water solubility of less than 0.1 μg / mm3 means that restorations keep their luster, shine and shade for longer as they are much slower to absorb liquids like coffee, wine and tea which, over time, result in staining.

100% BPA Free, containing none of today’s classic monomers (BisGMA, TEGDMA, UDMA, etc), Admira Fusion x-tra is highly biocompatible. These “x-tras” raise the bar in the world of single shade omni-chromatic restoratives.

Dentsply Sirona expands social engagement through support of Habitat for Humanity

Posted on Thursday, October 24, 2019

On Friday, September 20th, Dentsply Sirona Charlotte helped Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity make a difference in their local community. Twenty associates across Dentsply Sirona departments rolled up their sleeves and spent an entire working day building a house for a family in need. This Dentsply Sirona event is part of the company’s commitment to contribute to its community by supporting select local charities.

In two shifts, the Dentsply Sirona team gathered at the construction site to put up the scaffolding, prepare the cabinet blocking for the walls and complete the preparation of trusses for the roof. The team was led by Keith Clements, Vice President of US distribution & Customer support at Dentsply Sirona.

“Here at Dentsply Sirona, we take our social responsibility to heart. Supporting amazing humanitarian causes such as Habitat for Humanity’s commitment to build affordable housing is our way of giving back to the community we live in. We are very proud of the hands-on attitude and the obvious joy shown by our associates here in Charlotte who volunteered for this cause, and we are looking forward to doing more projects in the Charlotte area with Habitat for Humanity in the years ahead,” said Clements.

In addition to donating time and manpower, Dentsply Sirona financially contributed to the build. The volunteer day at Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity was an inspiring experience for everyone involved, and Dentsply Sirona is committed to expand its support to further communities in the foreseeable future.

Habitat for Humanity combats the affordable housing crisis

Building houses for families in need is Habitat for Humanity’s response to the growing nationwide affordable housing crisis. In Matthews, a suburb of Charlotte, alone, more than a third of the families are considered poor, near poverty, or “house poor”. The latter describes families that spend more than 30% of their income on a place to live. This is the case for Moulay’s family, for whom the home in Matthews is built. Moulay, his wife Samia and their three children Rana, Zakaria and Tasneem are currently living in a small 2nd-floor apartment with little room for the children to play. Renting the confined space costs them an entire monthly paycheck. With the help of Habitat for Humanity, the family of five will soon be living in their own 3-bedroom home that even features a garden where the children can play safely. Having an affordable mortgage also means Moulay can invest a bigger part of his income on other essential things, such as his children’s education or savings.

The build was started by Greater Matthews Habitat for Humanity in July this year, in partnership with local churches and congregations. With the support of over 170 volunteers, including the Dentsply Sirona team, Moulay’s family will be able to spend the holidays already in their own home. For information on Habitat for Humanity’s mission and ways to support their cause, visit www.habitat.org.

Dentsply Sirona is committed to serve their community

As an international company, Dentsply Sirona thrives to have a positive impact on the community, both on a local and global scale. As part of its Social Responsibility Platform, the company works with many organizations and initiatives on local, national, and international levels. The goal is to provide and improve oral health care and general well-being. This includes taking part in events such as this Habitat for Humanity build, as well as partnering with national charities such as TeamSmile. This charity brings dental professionals, local sports professionals and dental organizations together to provide children in need with quality dental care. Since 2017, Dentsply Sirona has supported local TeamSmile events through financial and equipment donations. Moreover, local Dentsply Sirona associates donate time for the children to make sure that these events are a great experience for them.

American Dental Association Continues to Fight Opioid Epidemic

Posted on Thursday, October 24, 2019

Oct. 26 is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day—a day to not only safely dispose of unused prescription medications but also to raise year-round awareness and inspire further action on the opioid public health crisis.

For more than a decade, the American Dental Association (ADA) has advocated to keep opioid pain medications from harming dental patients and their families. Dentists have written nearly half a million fewer opioid prescriptions over a five-year period. In 2018, the ADA was the first—and to this day remains the only—national health professional organization—to agree to mandated limits on opioid prescriptions.

“For years, dentists have been self-regulating their own prescribing habits in order to do what is best for patients,” said ADA President Chad Gehani, D.D.S. "As a profession, we make a promise to our patients that we will be good stewards of their health. We will continue to fight the opioid epidemic by keeping that promise and upholding the all-important doctor-patient relationship.”

The ADA continues to urge its 163,000 dentist members to consider non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) as a first-line therapy for acute pain management. A review of research published in the April 2018 Journal of the American Dental Association indicates NSAIDs, alone or in combination with acetaminophen, is more effective with fewer side effects than opioids for acute pain management.

Among the many ways ADA continues to focus on the opioid epidemic include:

offering free online webinars and in person continuing education sessions for dental professionals

urging dentists to register with their state prescription drug monitoring programs

offering patient-friendly resources to inform the public that over-the-counter pain relievers can often effectively relieve short-term dental pain

The ADA is committed to working with physicians, pharmacies, policymakers and the public to end this tragic and preventable public health crisis that has been devastating our families and communities.

ProBiora Health™ Supports Oral Health for Sheltered Dogs on National Make a Dog’s Day

Posted on Wednesday, October 23, 2019

On National Make a Dog’s Day, ProBiora Health will provide ProBioraPet™ oral care probiotics to support the oral health of shelter dogs, with an emphasis on shelter dogs with special needs

October 22 is National Make a Dog’s Day (#makeadogsday) and ProBiora Health, producer of oral care probiotics for people and pets, salutes Subaru and joins them in the worthy effort to support shelter dogs, particularly those with special needs. In partnership with GreaterGood.org, ProBiora Health is donating more than 2,000 units of ProBioraPet oral care probiotics, an all-natural probiotic specially formulated to support dogs’ oral health, for dogs at the Halo Love Peace shelter in Carol Stream, IL, and Henry’s House Feral Community in Norcross, GA.

“Dental health is more than just a cosmetic issue for our pets; it can be a sign of serious oral care challenges,” said Chris Koski, CEO of ProBiora Health. “We created ProBioraPet because we love pets and want them be healthy and happy. We’re so pleased to have the opportunity to help sheltered dogs enjoy good oral health.”

According to the American Veterinarian Medical Association, oral disease is the most frequently diagnosed health problem for pets, with most dogs and cats becoming affected by age three. Oral health is a very important part of a pet’s overall health. More than just a cosmetic issue, yellow teeth and bad breath can be a sign of serious disease in our pets, which may affect their kidneys, livers, and hearts.

Many people are familiar with probiotics for digestive and immune health. ProBiora Health’s proprietary probiotics apply the same biological process to enhance oral health in both people and pets. ProBioraPet’s patented blend of beneficial bacteria crowds out harmful bacteria in mouth, restoring the pet’s natural balance of beneficial bacteria. Sprinkling ProBioraPet into a pet’s food just once-a-day results in enhanced gum health, fresher breath and whiter teeth and without the fuss of brushing.

On this National Make a Dog’s Day, ProBiora Health hopes to encourage pet lovers across the nation to participate in maintaining the oral health of not only their own beloved “best friends” but rescued dogs who haven’t yet found a loving home. Pet lovers can find more information about ProBiora Health oral health care probiotics for people and pets at www.probiorahealth.com.
