vhf Expands Top Management

Posted on Wednesday, May 5, 2021

vhf camfacture AG is expanding its top management and has appointed the former CEO of its American subsidiary vhf Inc, Dr. Nicolas Rohde, as Chief Strategy Officer at the German headquarters. Mohamed Soliman, who has recently joined the vhf Group, will take over the position of CEO at vhf Inc. With the expansion of management, the company intends to continue its dynamic growth course.

Nicolas Rohde, who holds a doctorate in economics, has been head of vhf’s American subsidiary in New York State since 2017 and was previously Division Manager for Product and Service at vhf’s headquarters near Stuttgart. Before joining vhf camfacture AG in 2016, Dr. Rohde held various international positions in the dental industry beginning in 2003, and he has in-depth knowledge of both CAD/CAM products and the industry. He sees great potential in his new role: “vhf has developed excellently in recent years, and I am looking forward to helping shape its strategic direction in the role of Chief Strategy Officer, thus laying the groundwork for further sustainable growth.”

The new management position serves to support the CEO of vhf camfacture AG, Frank Benzinger, in the development of the corporate strategy, as well as to set up strategic initiatives and programs and to drive their implementation. At the same time, Dr. Rohde will join the Board of Directors at vhf Inc.

Mohamed Soliman, an expert in the dental and medical device industry, will assume the position of CEO at vhf Inc. Most recently, he held the position of COO at MIS Implants USA, where he was responsible for marketing, finance, customer service, and operations. Prior to that, he held key positions at Stryker Orthopaedics. Mr. Soliman features a strong technical background and an MBA degree from New York University, and his broad management experience makes him eminently suited to further strengthen vhf’s position in North America.

Frank Benzinger is pleased about the personnel changes: “Nicolas Rohde has already held numerous positions at vhf, and he is known in the industry for his outstanding expertise, making him the ideal person for his new role. I am looking forward to developing vhf strategically together with him. In addition, with Mohamed Soliman we have been able to gain an excellent manager who has already proven that he can lead subsidiaries of expanding companies extremely successfully.”

New Eco-Friendly Aspirator – Hygotip® XL Bio

Posted on Wednesday, May 5, 2021

Hygotip® XL Bio is an environment friendly aspirator fitting 16 mm systems. It is manufactured of autoclavable bio-based plastic made of sugar canes. Unlike conventional plastics where fossil raw materials such as oil and natural gas are used, sugar cane is a completely renewable resource.

The large diameter of 16 mm gives a high suction capacity and is more efficient to absorb the aerosols near the source. The sturdy design works as a tongue holder and allows to retract the cheek and gives you good accessibility.

It is very patient friendly with the specially designed ventilation grooves at the connection point of the aspirator. This prevents it from getting stuck to the soft tissue with discomfort for the patient.

VisCalor Dispenser from VOCO

Posted on Tuesday, May 4, 2021

VOCO introduces the VisCalor Dispenser, a composite capsule rapid warming and application device designed for VOCO’s new groundbreaking 2-in-1 thermo-viscous VisCalor composite line.

This sleek, ergonomically designed application device combines several innovations that enable the rapid warming of VisCalor in 30 seconds while maximizing the working time to as much as 2 minutes, 30 seconds. The warmer uses innovative Near-Infrared Technology in tandem with VOCO’s newly designed unit dose capsules. These easy-access-capsules are not only great for application, but are also made from a special plastic that improves the heat transfer and allows for the rapid warming of VisCalor’s TVT polymers. While heat energy is absorbed by the composite, the device does not become hot, nor does the composite become too warm to damage the pulp. This was confirmed by a 3rd party university study.

The VisCalor Dispenser has a removeable, autoclavable sheath for infection control and is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery that can be easily charged via a mini USB cable. It is the perfect warming, easy-application tool for VOCO’s groundbreaking VisCalor line of composite restoratives.

The VisCalor Dispenser is optimized for use with VOCO capsules, which are designed to absorb the Near-Infrared energy and withstand the rapid warming process. The use of other manufacturers’ caps risks damaging the cap and the dispenser.

Sonendo® & TDO® Software Sponsor AAE "Save Your Tooth Month"

Posted on Tuesday, May 4, 2021

Sonendo, Inc., a leading dental technology company and developer of the GentleWave® System, today announced their renewed sponsorship of the American Association of Endodontists (AAE) Save Your Tooth Month.

This year Sonendo is partnering with affiliate company TDO Software, Inc., developer of The Digital Office®; the most widely used endodontic practice management software in the world.

Save Your Tooth Month is an annual national initiative with the purpose of instilling the value of preserving natural teeth when possible and the importance of seeing an endodontist when experiencing tooth pain. The emphasis for this year's initiative is A Healthier Mouth=A Healthier YOU, focusing on how to develop and maintain better dental habits that can lead to better overall health. According to a recent survey commissioned by the AAE, the pandemic derailed many of the participants' dental hygiene routines and caused over half of them to postpone their general checkups. The survey's findings initiated a revitalized focus on the simple dental hygiene habits that can prevent the need for advanced dental care later.

"We are honored to sponsor this year's Save your Tooth Month", said Bjarne Bergheim, President and CEO of Sonendo, Inc. "Sonendo's mission is Saving Teeth Through Sound Science®, so we are very aligned with the AAE as they promote the role of the endodontist in saving teeth and improving oral care. Sonendo is also honored to have worked with endodontists to save more than 500,000 teeth across the United States and Canada using the GentleWave® Procedure for root canal therapy."

Endodontic practices can visit aae.org/sytm-member to learn more and access professional resources to help celebrate Save Your Tooth Month with peers across the country.

AG.Live: Digitization Pays Off!

Posted on Monday, May 3, 2021

Amann Girrbach is all about supporting laboratories in organizing digital dental workflows. With the AG.Live digital platform, this project reaches a new dimension. AG.Live helps dental technicians to manage all digital activities locally and to connect with an ever expanding global network of digital dental professionals.

Patient case management is at the core of the platform, which replaces the previous C3 customer portal—this is where the patient case is created, managed, and processed digitally. Patient cases can be shared with partner laboratories for further processing and in the foreseeable future also be exchanged between the dentist and the laboratory. Not only will laboratories and clinicians be networked, but also machines and materials—for example, to access material availability or, in the future, to the operating modes of milling machines and many other relevant factors of a dental fabrication process.

Thus, AG.Live will enable keeping track of all digital activities—from one place, anywhere and at any time. In doing so, it is Amann Girrbach's intention to create a network of optimized as well as new partnerships. Network participants will be able to work and collaborate more efficiently, to focus on their strengths and thus better position themselves in the market.

This management portal, which is unique on the market in terms of scope, breaks down the linearity of dental restoration processes. Cross-linking into patient cases is now possible in a simple and straightforward manner by making patient data centrally accessible and editable. The linking of previously separate data sources creates synergistic effects from which AG.Live users can profit sustainably and gain a noticeable competitive advantage. In a further step, Amann Girrbach will implement access to the company's own AG Academy training portal with numerous training and further education opportunities as well as an extensive archive of webinars and tutorials.

FDI World Dental Federation Sustainability in Dentistry initiative unites eco-conscious dental industry partners around a common aim

Posted on Monday, May 3, 2021

FDI World Dental Federation (FDI) today launched a new initiative, with commitments from four founding industry partners – Colgate, Dentsply-Sirona, GSK Consumer Healthcare, and TePe – to lead the charge on sustainability in dentistry.

Over the next two years FDI will work collaboratively with its partners and other key stakeholders to map out strategies and implement solutions to help reduce the environmental impact of dentistry and the dental industry. The work will lead to the publication of an FDI Sustainability Code of Practice that provides guidelines and objectives for achieving a sustainable procurement and supply procedure, which will be signed by co-signatories across the supply chain.

Environmental sustainability in dentistry is multifaceted and involves numerous stakeholders. CO2 emissions, plastics use, waste generation and other environmental impacts are major challenges at all levels of the dental resource supply chain as well as in care delivery. Reducing the impact of the dental profession on the environment will require action and collaboration from many different actors. The four founding partners are part of a pro-active approach to tackling these environmental threats and developing concerted and far-reaching solutions.

The project will also equip dentists and their teams with a suite of tools and resources to help them improve sustainability in their dental practices, while informing the general public of their role in sustainability in dentistry through improved oral health and making informed decisions.

"I am delighted to witness FDI's Sustainability in Dentistry project evolve into this high-calibre, multi-partner initiative to achieve our sustainability goals for the dental profession," said FDI President Dr Gerhard K. Seeberger. "The project's humble beginnings as a way to encourage oral health professionals and dental practices to 'think green' is now moving into a phase of collaboration, action and real results."

The four founding partners offered their remarks following the launch of the initiative:

"As the world's oral care leader with a focus on building purpose-driven brands, we are thrilled to help shape the FDI Sustainability in Dentistry initiative," said Ann Tracy, Chief Sustainability Officer at Colgate. "We are reimagining a healthier and more sustainable future for all people, their pets and our planet so this is a natural fit for us."

"GSK Consumer Healthcare is fighting to eradicate preventable oral health problems and working to empower dentists and the general public towards better, more sustainable dental care," said Sarah McDonald, VP Sustainability at GSK Consumer Healthcare. "This partnership supports this and our wider commitment to tackling environmental barriers to everyday health; because people can only be healthy on a healthy planet."

"At Dentsply Sirona, we are incredibly proud to be a founding member of the new cross-sector Sustainability in Dentistry partnership with FDI," said CEO Don Casey from Dentsply Sirona. "Our mission as a company is to improve oral health worldwide and sustainability is core to our strategy. We are committed to helping create a more sustainable world for future generations and look forward to the progress we will be able to achieve through this landmark initiative."

"We are very excited to be part of the Sustainability in Dentistry initiative," said Helena Ossmer Thedius, Marketing and Innovation Director at TePe. "We want to contribute to positive development and a more sustainable society. Working towards sustainable and circular solutions within dentistry is an important mission, and it is our belief that to be successful and make a real impact, we need to collaborate."

About FDI World Dental Federation

FDI is the main representative body for more than one million dentists worldwide, with a vision of leading the world to optimal oral health. Its membership comprises some 200 national member associations and specialist groups in over 130 countries. www.fdiworlddental.org

About the Sustainability in Dentistry project

FDI's Sustainability in Dentistry project was established to motivate and inspire commitment to reduce the collective CO2 footprint of dentistry, targeting practitioners, patients, and the supply chain itself. The project will produce a suite of tools and resources for dental practices and patients to be more environmentally sustainable. Through multi-stakeholder collaboration, the project will develop a Consensus Statement outlining the environmental impacts of dentistry. This will form the basis of the Consensus Summit and resulting Code of Good Practice, which provides guidelines and objectives for achieving a sustainable procurement and supply procedure. This will be signed by co-signatories across the supply chain. New signatories will be encouraged to sign the document and commit to a more sustainable future.

The four founding partners of the Sustainability in Dentistry project are Colgate, GSK Consumer Healthcare, Dentsply Sirona, and TePe.
