Vivos Therapeutics Announces the Opening of the First Pneusomnia Integrated Medical-Dental Sleep Center

Posted on Monday, March 8, 2021

Vivos Therapeutics, Inc. (“the Company”) (NASDAQ: VVOS), a medical technology company focused on developing and commercializing innovative treatments for patients suffering from sleep-disordered breathing, including mild-to-moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), today announced the opening of the first Pneusomnia clinic, a clinician-owned, integrated medical-dental sleep center featuring the Vivos System through its Medical Integration Division.

This first Pneusomnia clinic is located in Del Mar, Calif., and is owned and operated by a diverse group of local physicians led by Dr. Mimi Guarneri, cardiologist, founder and president of The Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine and an award-winning physician and researcher.

The Company formally launched its Medical Integration Division in early 2020 to foster an environment where more medical doctors could work directly with dentists (including dentists who participate in the Vivos Integrated Practice program) for treating sleep disorders in patients. As part of the new sleep medicine center, patients receive treatment with the Vivos System, a clinically effective, non-surgical, non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical oral appliance treatment for mild-to-moderate sleep apnea. Unlike traditional solutions, including CPAP machines and surgical implants that treat sleep apnea’s symptoms through lifetime intervention, the Vivos System typically does not require lifetime usage since it addresses sleep apnea’s underlying cause, with a treatment plan that, on average, lasts only 18 to 24 months.

In addition to the Del Mar facility, new Pneusomnia centers are currently being developed in Johnstown, CO, Modesto, CA, Las Vegas, NV, Ladera Ranch, CA, Encino, CA, Beverly Hills, CA, and Morristown, NJ.

By unifying the efforts of both medical doctors and dentists in addressing OSA, the Company expects to see more patients being screened, diagnosed, and treated with the Vivos System. In addition, the Company receives a recurring management fee from each Pneusomnia clinic.

“As the Vivos System addresses the underlying factors that contribute to sleep apnea for many of my patients, this center will allow undiagnosed OSA patients in Del Mar to learn more about this silent killer and how we can treat it,” said Dr. Guarneri MD. “Fifty-four million Americans and 1 billion people globally suffer from obstructive sleep apnea, many of whom remain undiagnosed, and it is a serious illness that contributes to several comorbidities.”

“With the medical and dental communities coming together through the Pneusomnia clinics to both diagnose and treat OSA, patients will have access to the Vivos System, our leading-edge technology that helps to alter the size, shape and position of their upper airway tissues,” added Kirk Huntsman, Vivos CEO. “We look forward to continuing our work with Dr. Guarneri to bring as many patients into the new facility as possible. With additional centers opening later this year across the country, and over 1,200 independent dentists in the U.S. and Canada who are now using the Vivos System, we believe we are poised to reach even more undiagnosed patients than ever before.”

About Vivos Therapeutics, Inc.

Vivos Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: VVOS) is a medical technology company focused on developing and commercializing innovative treatments for adult patients suffering from sleep-disordered breathing, including obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The Vivos treatment for mild-to-moderate OSA involves customized oral appliances and protocols called the Vivos System. Vivos believes that its Vivos System oral appliance technology represents the first clinically effective non-surgical, non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical and cost-effective solution for people with mild-to-moderate OSA. Vivos oral appliances have proven effective in over 15,000 patients treated worldwide by more than 1,200 trained dentists. Combining technologies and protocols that alter the size, shape and position of the tissues of a patient’s upper airway, the Vivos System opens airway space and significantly reduce symptoms and conditions associated with mild-to-moderate OSA. The Vivos System has been shown to significantly lower Apnea Hypopnea Index scores and improve other conditions associated with OSA. The Vivos Integrated Practice (VIP) program offers dentists training and other value-added services in connection with using the Vivos System.

Coming Soon - PrograScan® One: Accurate scanning experience with high precision results

Posted on Friday, March 5, 2021

Results beyond expectations – Ivoclar Vivadent will launch new scanning solutions in the United States in the 2nd quarter of 2021. The two new PrograScan® One intraoral scanners powered by 3Shape supplement the fully integrated chairside system and enable dentists to deliver highly accurate, esthetic restorations.

The PrograScan One seamlessly integrates with the PrograMill® One milling machine – the only chairside mill specifically designed to fabricate IPS e.max® – creating an unparalleled workflow that will transform the way dentists practice dentistry. The intraoral scanner is available in two different versions: PrograScan One and PrograScan One+.

High accuracy to enable high-precision restorations

PrograScan One includes powerful features to take high-quality digital impressions. The two scanner enable optimal treatment results thanks to high-accuracy scanning. The latest AI technology makes scanning easier by automatically removing soft tissue artefacts from the digital impression. With the ability to record the patient's dynamic occlusion, the dentist can ensure that the restorations have the best possible fit. The detailed colour scan and shade measurement and enhanced scanning speed round off the accurate scanning experience with PrograScan One. In addition to that, PrograScan One+ provides optimized handling with innovative wireless scanning technology. This enhances comfort for both dentists and patients.

Integrated for chairside success

Ivoclar Vivadent offers expandable products to enable dentists to grow their practice in line with their needs. The comprehensive and integrated clinical ecosystem gives dentists full flexibility to choose between single-day treatments enabled through in-house production or sending cases to their preferred lab partners or third-party providers. The flexible PrograDesign software connects the PrograScan One and PrograMill One into intuitive guided workflows for single-visit dental treatments. Dentists can therefore plan and create restorations in their practice itself within a single day. Patient excitement apps help dentists involve patients early in the planning stage of their treatments.

Distribution channels are currently being evaluated and will be communicated during the product launch.

New survey finds stress-related dental conditions continue to increase

Posted on Friday, March 5, 2021

More than 70 percent of dentists surveyed by the American Dental Association (ADA) Health Policy Institute are seeing an increase of patients experiencing teeth grinding and clenching, conditions often associated with stress. This is an increase from ADA data released in the fall that showed just under 60 percent of dentists had seen an increase among their patients.

“Our polling has served as a barometer for pandemic stress affecting patients and communities seen through the eyes of dentists,” said Marko Vujicic, Ph.D., chief economist and vice president of the ADA Health Policy Institute. “The increase over time suggests stress-related conditions have become substantially more prevalent since the onset of COVID-19.”

The survey also found a little more than 60 percent of dentists saw an increase in other stress-related dental conditions including chipped and cracked teeth and TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder) symptoms such as headaches and jaw pain.

“As the pandemic continues, dentists are seeing stress-related dental conditions more and more,” said Marcelo Araujo, D.D.S., M.S., Ph.D., ADA chief science officer. “It’s more important than ever for people to maintain their dental health, including seeing the dentist regularly to address any issues that could have long-term impact.”

Despite speculation from recent news reports that frequent mask-wearing may impact dental health and cause “mask mouth,” the survey found no meaningful change in the prevalence reported for conditions such as bad breath and dry mouth compared to pre-pandemic.

Hands-Free HVE from DENTALEZ

Posted on Wednesday, March 3, 2021

DENTALEZ® is excited to share the latest product release in our arsenal of solutions for dentists and hygienists. To answer the amplified need for safe aerosol extraction, we have created an easy-to-use extraoral High Volume Evacuator (HVE) holder that can fit just about any dental chair quickly and easily.

The mitigation of airborne particles is an ongoing priority for dental practices and requires multiple strategies for various types and sizes of microscopic droplets. The need for safety has escalated exponentially with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, the CDC provides guidance for further minimizing droplet spatter and aerosols that enhances it’s existing recommendations for layering of protective protocols, including four-handed dentistry and high volume evacuation suction. At DENTALEZ, we have created a solution that provides those extra hands, hands-free.

Introducing Hands-Free HVE by DENTALEZ

DENTALEZ designers are committed to thinking beyond what is expected, to solve everyday challenges in dentistry. Our Hands-Free HVE offers an extra layer of at-the-source HVE suction during aerosol-generating procedures, allowing the user to position the HVE with ease and precision, with or without supplemental staff. The HVE design is compatible with most patient chairs on the market today and comes with a simple plug-and-play kit including everything needed to assemble and use. The HVE is also easy to clean, designed with consideration for increased safety protocol, and using common dental practice disinfectants.

This means added peace of mind, at an affordable price, for our users. “We as dentists need to mitigate aerosols in our office,” says Peter Certo, D.M.D. “Numerous extraoral suction devices have hit the market since COVID-19, but none integrated into my existing armamentarium as easily as the DENTALEZ HVE holder.”

Hands-free and designed to be flexible, now supplemental extraoral HVE suction is at the ready, even without additional staff on hand.

DENTALEZ® is committed to providing state-of-the-art dental practice solutions for unlimited interconnectivity, choice and control. Garrison Releases Fusion Anterior Matrix System

Posted on Wednesday, March 3, 2021

Garrison, the recognized leader in composite matrix systems, has just introduced an all-new system designed specifically for challenging anterior restorations. The Fusion Anterior Matrix System builds strongly on Garrison’s 23+ year history of innovative product design.

This complete kit includes two sizes of firm metal matrix bands and four sizes of wedges to allow the restoration of a wide variety of anterior lesions.

“Our customers were the inspiration behind the new Fusion Anterior Matrix System.” says Jason Phillips, Garrison’s Director of Marketing. “They described using our metal posterior matrix bands in a unique way to perfectly recreate anterior tooth anatomy. We worked with many of them to refine that concept into this new system.”

The firm metal matrix bands are significantly thinner than traditional plastic strips and can be inserted through existing contacts and into the sulcus for deeper restorations. Ideal gingival/incisal anatomy as well as facial/lingual anatomy are built in, simplifying sculpting in the critical anterior area.

The unique, radical curvature of the Fusion Anterior wedge wraps the band snugly around the tooth and anchors is in place – helping to free up the clinician’s hands. They gently slide alongside the interdental papilla to sit lower interproximally providing maximum tooth separation while helping to reduce the occurrence of black triangles.

The conveniently organized Fusion Anterior Matrix System starter kit comes with 50 each of the two sizes of matrix bands and 25 each of the four wedge sizes. A complete selection of refills is also available. Contact Garrison Dental Solutions at 888-437-0032 or visit garrisondental.com for more information.

BIOLASE Announces the Launch of Waterlase Perio Academy

Posted on Wednesday, March 3, 2021

BIOLASE, Inc. the global leader in dental lasers, announced today that the company has formed a community of periodontists through the development of the Waterlase Perio Academy (WPA). The goal of the WPA is to assist clinicians in providing periodontal and implant services with improved patient outcomes, through the continued adoption of laser technology.

Leveraging the same recipe for success from its Waterlase Endo Academy, the innovative and first of its kind program in the periodontal laser community will foster peer-led learning with ongoing mentorship from WPA's leading clinicians, featuring online meetings and case reviews by experts in the field. The academy is open to all periodontists utilizing the Waterlase technology.

"Launching an academy devoted to supporting the growth and timely needs of periodontists directly aligns with BIOLASE's mission of advancing dentistry," said John Beaver, President and CEO of BIOLASE. "Periodontists are actively seeking ways to manage both periodontal and implant diseases, as the incidence of gum disease with "bone loss" has increased in the adult population. Periodontitis can often be linked to systemic diseases, from inflammatory cardiac disease to recent COVID-19 infections – further stressing the need for innovative solutions and expert collaboration among dental professionals."

As part of the WPA, members will have access to facilitated discussions around complex cases, ongoing mentorship from leading clinicians, didactic online meetings and interactive case reviews. Academy leadership is composed of experienced periodontists, including Drs. Paul Chang, Curry Leavitt, Stephen John, Todd Jorgenson, James Papp and Bret Dyer. Virtual progressive training sessions will also be added in real-time to address new procedures as they arise, and members will be part of the "first to know" community when BIOLASE releases products.

"Periodontists have seen a significant increase in peri-implant disease, which is alarming due to the number of new dental implants being placed each year and existing aging dental implants currently in function," said Paul Chang, D.D.S., M.S. "As clinicians, it is critical for our growth and our patients' outcomes that we collaborate around clinically proven solutions, including BIOLASE's established implant repair protocol, which has shown significant success in decontamination. This method even allows new bone formation around the previously contaminated implant; no other company method has been shown to do this more predictably than implant repair protocol."

Waterlase lasers afford clinicians the ability to decontaminate diseased implants and provide opportunities to return the implant to a healthy state. Peer-reviewed landmark studies among dental journals continue to support evidence that periodontal and implant disease can be managed with minimally invasive laser procedures, resulting in excellent patient-reported outcomes.
