SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass.—Jan. 6, 2020—The latest innovations in oral health will be on display at Yankee Dental Congress^® 2020 (Yankee) from January 30 – February 1, 2020, at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. Yankee, which is New England’s largest dental meeting, is presented by the Massachusetts Dental Society in cooperation with the dental societies of Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

More than 26,000 dental health professionals and guests from around the United States are expected to attend this year’s event, which will feature hundreds of continuing education (CE) courses and hands-on courses and workshops presented by leading experts in the dental profession.

In addition, there will be a special track of courses designed for new dentists to help them learn from experienced practitioners and network with their peers.

Sacramento, Calif. — The California Dental Association recently announced that its new president for 2020 is Richard Nagy, DDS, a periodontist, whose term began Jan. 1. Nagy succeeds Immediate Past President R. Del Brunner, DDS.

“It’s an honor to serve as president of an organization committed to the profession of dentistry and improving the oral health of all Californians,” said Nagy. “Oral health is essential to overall health, and CDA will continue our work to ensure the state’s Medi-Cal Dental Program is accessible to millions of low-income Californians.”

Nagy, who is past president of the Santa Barbara-Ventura County Dental Society, has served as president of the California Society of Periodontists and Western Society of Periodontology. He also served as a trustee to the American Academy of Periodontology.

As president, Nagy’s goals include enhancing CDA’s membership value, supporting policymaking decisions and implementing its strategic plan to meet the needs of members and shape the future of dentistry and patient care.

“As the leading oral health advocate in California, we have opportunities to explore how we can improve the delivery of care and the oral health of our most vulnerable populations such as the elderly and disabled,” Nagy said. 

Nagy graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1986 and earned his certification in periodontology four years later from Wadsworth V.A. Medical Center in Los Angeles. For more than 30 years, he has provided care to communities across Southern California, including Vista, West Covina and Santa Barbara, where he owns a private practice. Nagy has also served as faculty for dental education programs, including the UCLA School of Dentistry and West Los Angeles Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center.
