LED Medical Diagnostics Announces Corporate Name Change to Reflect Its Evolving Digital Dental Imaging Business

Posted on Wednesday, August 28, 2019

LED Medical Diagnostics Inc. (“LED” or the “Company”) (TSXV: LMD) has announced that it is changing its corporate name to Apteryx Imaging Inc. effective September 3, 2019, leveraging the longstanding reputation and brand equity of its wholly-owned subsidiary Apteryx, Inc.

“The Apteryx Imaging brand underscores our continued commitment to our guiding principal, which is the development and sale of open-architected imaging software systems and device solutions that provide dentists and specialists the freedom to choose device technologies that work best for their individual practice, regardless of brand or manufacturer,” commented Apteryx CEO Dr. David Gane. “Our digital workflow solutions are unique in that they mirror the medical imaging model, which relies on the universal DICOM standard to facilitate image exchange, communication and device interoperability between manufacturers, rather than the closed proprietary systems that dominate the current dental market space.”

Dr. Gane continued, “We have evolved from a single product device manufacturer with the market-leading VELscope Vx oral screening system, to a digital image software platform and device manufacturer. We feel that the adoption of such a well-established dental imaging brand, Apteryx Imaging, more closely reflects our uniqueness and commitment to be the leading innovator of open-architecture imaging software through our XrayVision brand family, along with continuing to develop high-value digital imaging and oral screening devices, including our TUXEDO Intraoral Sensor and award-winning VELscope system.”

Apteryx Imaging’s core product lines include XrayVision and XVWeb imaging software, TUXEDO Intraoral Sensors and the VELscope Vx Oral Screening System. XrayVision is the industry’s leading open-architecture imaging software platform, with over 90,000 licenses issued to customers, including the United States Army, the United States Navy and many of the nation’s largest Dental Support Organizations (DSOs). XVWeb cloud imaging recently received the Cellerant “Best of Class” Technology Award for imaging software, while the VELscope Vx is the most awarded adjunctive oral screening device on the market today, receiving over 15 industry awards since its launch in 2011.

“The Apteryx brand has a rich history in imaging technologies, which allows us to consolidate our product brands under one all-encompassing corporate identity,” concluded Chris Koch, director of marketing for Apteryx Imaging. “We are excited about this new direction that embraces our corporate vision moving forward while respecting the history of LED and the VELscope product that launched our company many years ago.”

As part of the change from LED Medical Diagnostics to Apteryx Imaging, Apteryx Imaging will be updating their stock ticker on the TSX Venture Exchange from LMD to XRAY effective at market open on September 3, 2019. Updates to the Company’s tickers for the OTCQB and Frankfurt stock exchanges are also in process and will be announced as soon as the change is approved by these two entities. Apteryx Imaging will maintain its existing offices in Vancouver, BC, Akron, OH and Atlanta, GA. The new CUSIP number is 03836P108. Shareholders are not required to exchange their existing share certificates for new certificates.

The Company also announced the grant of 460,000 stock options to directors, officers and employees of the Company, in accordance with its stock option plan. Each option has a five-year term and is exercisable at CDN$ .38 per share.

Apteryx Imaging will be exhibiting at the American Dental Association/FDI World Dental Congress, September 4-8, 2019 in San Francisco, CA. For more information on Apteryx Imaging, please visit www.apteryx.com or call 877-APTERYX.

Posted on Wednesday, August 28, 2019

The Institute for Academic Management (IAM) Ltd. has announced that Mr. Christian Brutzer will be the International Co-Chair for the Inaugural IAM-USA Dual Education Symposium, scheduled for March 25th-28th, 2020, at the Trump National Doral, in Miami, Florida, USA.

In July of 2019, Christian Brutzer became president of Ivoclar Vivadent North America. Brutzer is also the global head for Ivoclar Vivadent Asia/Pacific region and a member of Ivoclar Vivadent AG, Liechtenstein’s corporate management board. He maintains these positions. A lawyer by education, Brutzer, who was born in Germany, furthered his experience during a post-graduate program in Japan. He has been in the dental industry since 1989, serving in various executive management positions in Europe, Southeast Asia, China, Japan, Australia, and the USA. He speaks multiple languages, including German, English, and Japanese.

With a foundation built on an apprenticeship, so obtained in the profession of a “Speditions Kaufmann,” positioned today as a “Business Apprentice,” Brutzer aligns his impressive academic achievements and career experience with unwavering enthusiasm. His desire to see more young people, both nationally and internationally, enter into the realm of dual-education by way of academics, apprenticeships, and lifelong learning, is the force behind his commitment to take on this role.

IAM is pleased to welcome Mr. Brutzer as their International Co-Chair for the 2020-2021 term, especially as the global industry of healthcare is in such dire need of a skilled workforce for today, for tomorrow, and for the future. Looking back on a statement released by the World Health Organization (WHO) – Brazil 2013: “The world will be short of 12.9 million health-care workers by 2035; today, that figure stands at 7.2 million.” A WHO report released at that time warned that the findings – if not addressed now – will have serious implications for the health of billions of people across all regions of the world.

V-Posil Putty Fast Line Extension

Posted on Monday, August 26, 2019

V-Posil Putty Fast Now Available in a 380 ml Cartridge

Modern impression materials must meet a wide range of demands. Dentists require a material that provides a particularly high level of precision, while a convenient working time combined with a short intraoral setting time also takes priority. The material needs to offer high hydrophilicity and dimensional accuracy plus a high degree of tear strength and elasticity.

V-Posil, the VPS impression material with optimal timing and maximum precision from VOCO meets all these requirements. The putty viscosity of this successful product line has been extended and now includes the putty material in a large, 380ml cartridge.

V-Posil Putty Fast is used as a tray material for the following techniques:

           •           Putty and wash technique (two-step)

           •           Sandwich technique (single-step)

           •           Putty and wash technique using a spacer (foil)

           •           Or as an impression material for functional margin shaping

With an intraoral setting time of 2:30 minutes, V-Posil Putty Fast from the cartridge is also considered a fast-setting material. This saves time for the dentist while also improving patient comfort. The material has a Shore A hardness of 63, meaning that it is recommended for the putty and wash technique in particular. The material has 99.5% elastic recovery from deformation, which ensures precise pouring results and consequently, perfectly-fitting restorations.

Pacific Dental Services®-Supported Practices Provided $6.5 Million in Donated Dentistry on Smile Generation Serve Day

Posted on Friday, August 23, 2019

3,000 patients nationwide received oral health care on Saturday, August 17th

Leading dental support organization (DSO) Pacific Dental Services (PDS®), which was just named to the Inc. 5000 list of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies for the 14th time, joined forces with The Smile Generation to launch the 9th annual Smile Generation Serve Day, an annual day of service and nationwide campaign of giving that focuses on providing donated dentistry to underserved patients. On Saturday, August 17th, more than 700 PDS-supported dental practices and volunteers throughout the United States provided 3,000 patients with more than $6.5 million of oral health care, including some life changing procedures such as CEREC® same-day crowns, implants, root canals, oral surgery, and scaling and root planning, taking care of the patients’ overall dental care needs. Since its inception in 2011, more than 18,000 patients have received donated dentistry during Smile Generation Serve Day, totaling more than $32 million in oral health care.

“Service is at the core of who we are as an organization,” said Stephen E. Thorne, IV, Founder and CEO of PDS, which supports over 750 dental practices in 21 states. “Participating in the act of service changes our hearts and minds about what matters most in life. Our success enables us to create opportunities to serve through improving oral health care locally, nationally and internationally. We’re humbled to be able to provide donated dentistry each year to thousands of people in need during Smile Generation Serve Day.”

Many of the patients treated during this year’s Smile Generation Serve Day event are affiliated with After InnocenceSpecial Olympics International, or Dental Lifeline Network. “Smile Generation Serve Day is a great event that allows our volunteers to serve more patients in need,” said Fred Leviton, CEO of Dental Lifeline Network, which provides dental care for people with disabilities, people who are elderly and medically fragile, and veterans. “Many of these people received life-changing services they otherwise would not have access to, and we’re so appreciative of all the PDS-supported dental practices that opened up their offices to change lives in their local communities.”

After Innocence is a non-profit organization that serves prison exonerees nationwide – many of whom falsely imprisoned for decades. “Smile Generation Serve Day is a game-changer for dozens of our exoneree-clients. Pacific Dental Services-supported dentists across the country welcomed our exonerees into their offices, providing extensive pro bono services, and helped these deserving individuals take an important step in rebuilding their lives after wrongful convictions," said Jon Eldan, Executive Director of After Innocence.

PDS’ 2019 ranking on Inc. Magazine’s exclusive list of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies is a particularly notable achievement – the DSO is one of only a few companies that has placed on the Inc. 5000 14 times, joining Pinnacle Group, WMK, and Jarret Logistics Systems. Since its inception in 1994, PDS has been committed to fostering a culture of Clinicians Leading Clinicians in Clinical Excellence®. Their primary purpose is to provide support so that clinicians can focus on providing oral health care to their patients to keep them healthier and happier. This includes educating patients about the link between oral health and whole-body health – what PDS and its supported practices call the Mouth-Body Connection®. Research shows that harmful bacteria and inflammation in the mouth can indicate and even cause systemic conditions throughout the body. Maladies of the mouth, including periodontal disease, may be linked with other medical conditions including oral cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and more.
