Jimenez Named AACD Accredited Fellow Member

Posted on Thursday, July 21, 2016

Edgar Jimenez has been named an Accredited Fellow in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). He is the 70th individual to achieve Fellowship in the Academy and only the sixth Accredited Fellow Laboratory Technician in the history of the AACD.

The purpose of Fellowship is to provide the highest level of achievement for members in accordance with the AACD's mission of education and excellence.

Jimenez began his career over 20 years ago as an in-office dental technician. During that time, he was able to partner with the practitioner and patient, which facilitated unparalleled treatment results. He also learned the importance of a total team approach, which he still practices today. Now Jimenez owns and operates a full service boutique lab, Edgar Jimenez Dental Studio, located in North Oaks, Minnesota where he specializes in full-mouth reconstruction and cosmetic smile design.

A member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry since 2006, Jimenez has presented to university students in Cuba as part of the AACD’s University Outreach program, and he is an avid supporter of the AACD Charitable Foundation’s Give Back a Smile program.

“Mr. Jimenez’s commitment to responsible esthetics and cosmetic dentistry is undeniable with his most recent achievement as an AACD Accredited Fellow,” said AACD Fellowship Chair Bradley J. Olson, DDS, FAACD. “Our Accredited Fellow members must complete one of the most rigorous, yet life-changing journeys of their career—and of their lives.”

He will be honored for this achievement at AACD 2017 in Las Vegas on April 21, 2017.

S-Ray Announces a “Testing the Waters” Campaign

Posted on Wednesday, July 20, 2016

S-Ray Incorporated announced that it has launched on its website a "Testing the Waters" campaign at: https://s-rayinc.com/invest.

The campaign is intended to gauge potential investor interest in a going public transaction – an IPO via Regulation A Plus Tier II. S-Ray is measuring public support for a possible offering by targeting the general investment and dental industry communities as well as socially responsible investors as it seeks to raise up to $50 million of additional capital to support growth strategies and operational goals. S-Ray’s intention is to file a Regulation A Plus with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) once the "Testing the Waters" campaign reaches the threshold of $1 million.

In the past, only qualified investors, venture capitalists, and private equity firms had the opportunity to invest via special securities in private-to-public transactions. This changed in June 2015 with the passage of the JOBS Act in April 2012 and the SEC's release of the regulations governing the new rules.

S-Ray intends to participate in these new rules under Regulation A Plus Tier II. But before any investment into a Regulation A Plus offering can occur, the company must first qualify its potential offering with Federal regulators and launch its "Testing the Waters" campaign to gauge market interest. The campaign will target potential investors through email, social media campaigns and by inviting investors to participate.

“We have been anticipating the next major steps of growth for our company,” said Steve Baird, S-Ray Incorporated’s CEO. “So we welcome the possibilities afforded by an IPO via Regulation A Plus Tier II.”

No money or other consideration is being solicited in S-Ray’s “Testing the Waters” campaign, and, if sent, in response, it will not be accepted. Offers to buy securities cannot be accepted, and no sales of securities will be made or commitment to purchase accepted until qualification of the offering statement by the SEC and the approval of any other required government or regulatory agency. An indication of interest made by a prospective investor is non-binding and involves no obligation or commitment of any kind. No offer of securities will be made without a qualified offering circular.

Any eventual Regulation A Plus offering will be presented to investors in the order they participate in the "Testing the Waters" campaign. Potential investors can indicate their interest in the campaign at S-Ray’s dedicated webpage:  https://s-rayinc.com/invest/testing-the-waters-campaign/testing-the-waters-campaign-potential-investors/.

Dentists Providing Free Healthcare to Holocaust Survivors are Honored

Posted on Wednesday, July 20, 2016

MELVILLE, NY, July 20, 2016 – Henry Schein, Inc. (Nasdaq: HSIC) joined the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity’s (AO) Columbus, Ohio, chapter in recognizing 13 area oral health professionals for their participation in a program that provides free dental care to Holocaust survivors in need.

The Alpha Omega-Henry Schein Cares Holocaust Survivors Oral Health Program was launched in November 2014 in response to the White House’s call to action to help Holocaust survivors age with dignity and respect. To date, the program has provided free oral care to more than 200 economically vulnerable Holocaust survivors across North America, including more than a dozen in Columbus.

The participating dentists were honored at a recent reception hosted by Jewish Family Services in Columbus. U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) congratulated the honorees, AO, and Henry Schein Cares in a Certificate of Commendation presented at the reception.

“The Alpha Omega-Henry Schein Cares Holocaust Survivors Oral Health Program’s impact would not be possible without the dedicated dental professionals who so generously give their time and talent to serving the oral health needs of Holocaust survivors,” said Stanley M. Bergman, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Henry Schein. “Henry Schein stands proudly with the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity to honor and thank the Columbus chapter for its commitment to this deserving group of people.”

The initiative provides care to people identified by the network of Jewish Family and Children’s Service agencies or other identified partner organizations, as well as people of any faith who were victims of Nazi persecution and meet the program’s other eligibility requirements. In addition to financial need, patient participation is prioritized by three critical factors: the elimination of pain, restoration of function, and lack of dental coverage. Participating clinicians determine each patient’s scope of care.

This program fills a critical need for many of the 120,000 Holocaust survivors living in the U.S., one quarter of whom live in poverty. Survivors often have special oral health needs, as many suffered from prolonged nutritional deprivation and had little to no dental care access as children during World War II. The program currently operates in 15 geographies, including Columbus, Chicago, New York City, the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area, Boston, Philadelphia, Detroit, Seattle, Montreal, Toronto, Atlanta, Calgary, Los Angeles, Winnipeg, and Dallas.

“Participating in the Alpha Omega-Henry Schein Cares Holocaust Survivors Oral Health Program has been an incredible experience for our members and we have learned so much from the Holocaust survivors we have treated,” said Dr. Shaun Rotenberg, Ambassador of AO’s Columbus chapter. “It is our honor to help them in whatever manner we can, and we look forward to continuing to participate in this wonderful program.”

Dentists honored at the event were: Kevin Albert, Anny Almasanu, Brad Blair, Aaron Carroll, Katie Carroll, Marc Hollander, Fredric Kaufman, Brad Kripke, Mark Levy, Shaun Rotenberg, Rob Steiner, Jeff Tilson, and Eric Zidel.

“Alpha Omega’s Columbus chapter has shown that kindness and charity can have an incredible impact on the health and happiness of people in need,” said program Co-Chair and AO Past International President Dr. Avi Wurman, DDS. “These oral health practitioners have helped Holocaust survivors eat without pain and smile proudly, and we thank them for upholding the ideals to which Alpha Omega’s members aspire.”

The Alpha Omega-Henry Schein Cares Holocaust Survivors Oral Health Program has received generous financial support from The Claire Friedlander Family Foundation and the Curt C. & Else Silberman Foundation. Additional support has been provided by the Henry Schein Cares Foundation, Inc., Bedford Health Care Solutions, The Dr. Edward B. Shils Entrepreneurial Fund, Inc., the Wagner Family

Foundation, and the Slomo and Cindy Silvian Foundation, Inc.

Please watch this video for more information about the Alpha Omega-Henry Schein Cares Holocaust Survivors Oral Health Program.

Core3daCADemy Launches Digital Dentistry Certification Program

Posted on Wednesday, July 20, 2016

Core3daCADemy® announced the launch of its new Digital Dentistry Certification Webinar Program. Available to registered participants on demand (i.e., to watch on-line at your convenience via personalized password), the Program is organized into “Units” of three one hour Webinars focusing on a particular topic.

Unlike other programs that often seem to assume participants have been in the digital field for years, the Core3daCADemy® Digital Dentistry Certification Program has been specifically designed to provide the beginning and intermediate digital technician with an easily navigable road map to scanning and digital design success. Designed by dental technicians for dental technicians, participants won’t learn how to use the tools - they'll learn why they are using them and how they fit into the digital workflow, from the grassroots up.

The Program will launch with “Unit 1: A Beginner’s Guide to Digital Scan and Design Success”, to be available for viewing as of September 5, 2016. The first Webinar in this Unit, “Digital Dentistry 101 - The Basics”, sets a firm foundation by developing an understanding of Case and Material selection in a digital environment. Then it lays out the core concepts of CAD/CAM basics in a clear manner that ensures there are no holes, or skipped gradients, in applying that foundation. The program builds through the next two Webinars “Digital Dentistry 102 - Scanning with Ease” and “Digital Dentistry 103– Effective Digital Design” with practical explanations, examples, systems, tips and tricks in the specific areas of scanning and design that lead to optimal final restorations.

On completion of each Unit, participants will be fully Core3daCADemy certified in the basics of Digital Dentistry in that area of concentration – and will receive an official Certificate of Completion. Three (3) CE Credits are also available for each Unit as well. The cost is $99.00 per Unit (including all three of the Webinar courses).

Unit 2 of the Program (due for release later in 2016) will cover “Digital Crown & Bridge Techniques”. Unit 2 accelerates productivity and performance through specialized instruction in the digital design and fabrication of crown and bridge restorations (covering Single Unit Design, Designing Multiple Units, and Designing Bridges) with emphasis on the techniques and tools available through 3Shape.

Please contact Emily Bradley at ebradley@core3dcentres-na.com with questions or for more information on Unit 1, Unit 2 or the Digital Dentistry Certification Program overall.

New York University College of Dentistry (NYU Dentistry), in collaboration with Dentsply Sirona, the world’s largest manufacturer of professional dental products and technologies, is proud to announce a new, fully equipped endodontic clinical suite that will employ the most advanced educational and patient care technologies available. Dr. Charles N. Bertolami, Herman Robert Fox Dean of NYU Dentistry, announced this collaboration on June 15, at a gala in Manhattan celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Dr. Ignatius N. and Sally Quartararo Department of Endodontics, the oldest department of endodontics in the nation. In recognition of this partnership, the new clinical suite will be named the Dentsply Sirona Endodontic Clinical Suite.

With our new state-of-the-art facility, NYU will have one of the most sophisticated endodontic clinical suites in the nation, thus ensuring our ability to provide the finest endodontic education and to help alleviate patients’ suffering in a manner that reflects truly patient-centered care.”

The clinical suite will feature a fully-integrated computer network with best-practice case management software, along with a fully equipped, state-of-the-art surgical suite; fully equipped restorative and endodontic treatment centers; intraoral digital X-ray stations; state-of-the-art endodontic motors; ultrasonic units; intraoral sensors; and a Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scanner, utilizing state-of-the-art scanning technology to produce 3-D images of teeth, soft tissues, nerve pathways, and bone in a single scan.

Jeffrey T. Slovin, CEO of Dentsply Sirona, said, “Dentsply Sirona believes that our next generation of endodontists and general practitioners should have the opportunity to learn in the most innovative training facilities with the latest technology available. We couldn’t be more excited to enter into this collaboration with the NYU College of Dentistry, one of the most advanced dental schools in the world, and thereby continue to support the profession through research and education.”
