Welcome to another remote episode of IDT Weekly! I’m Jason Mazda, and here’s what’s new. MicroDental Laboratories announced that Robert Kreyer has been appointed its new Director of Advanced Dentures and Implants. Robert will oversee MicroDental’s implant and denture departments and support growth in digital fabrication techniques, quality control, dentist communication, education, and streamlined caseflow. Robert is an IDT board member and good friend to all of us at the journal, so on behalf of the whole IDT team, Robert, congratulations and best of luck! Medit, which is celerating its 20th anniversary, announced that GB Ko will take over as CEO. Founder Minho Chang will now focus on his role as a board member. Ko, whose two decades of management experience includes Proctor & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, and Stryker, says he’s excited to join Medit on its path of rapid growth and to shift the paradigm of dentistry. This month in IDT, our annual Tech Issue features an article by IDT board member Chris Brown about the possibility of 3D printing ceramics and zirconia. Chris delves into the current challenges as well as the progress that a handful of companies have been able to make. This could very well be the future of restorative dentistry, and there aren’t many people better than Chris to keep you informed and on the cutting edge.
