Updates on the Great New York Dental Meeting and a new 3Shape CEO, plus an article on artistry in technology and a video interview with Kevin Reck on 4D printing.
Welcome to another remote episode of IDT Weekly! I’m Jason Mazda, and here’s what’s new. Organizers of the Greater New York Dental Meeting say the show will be held as scheduled November 27 to December 2 at the Javits Center in New York. The Javits Center was used as a field hospital for COVID-19 in the spring, but it is scheduled to reopen for public events in September. Greater New York organizers say they are “energized” as they plan to host the event. 3Shape will have a new CEO effective August 1. The company announced that Jakob Just-Bomholt, previously Executive VP of the global emergency and healthcare company Falck, will replace co-founders Tais Clausen and Nikolaj Deichmann as they move to new roles as co-vice chairmen of the board. Chairman of the board Jorgen Jensen says Bomholt’s leadership and business experience will be essential to 3Shape’s continued growth. This month in IDT, our annual Tech Issue features a cover story on artistry and technology. We spoke to dental professionals who are utilizing technology in various ways at different stages of the restorative process to enhance their artistry. The message everyone agreed on is that there is some great technology out there, but only knowledgeable dental professionals can really get the best out of these tools. Online this month at insidedentaltech.com, last week we told you about Kevin Reck’s article about 4D printing, and we also have a video discussion with Kevin. He and I talked about how, while dentures are the primary application for this technology so far, the possibilities are endless. Watch our conversation at insidedentaltech.com under the Videos header. Well, that’s it for this week! Everyone please stay safe and healthy, and join us again next time on IDT Weekly.
