Updates on the Fun ’N Sun Weekend and CDC guidelines for dental settings reopening (insidedentaltech.com/idt1200), plus a webinar on 3D printing with Dr. Marko Tadros.
Welcome to another remote episode of IDT Weekly. I’m Jason Mazda, and here’s what’s new. The Dental Technicians Society has announced that the annual Fun N Sun Weekend, originally scheduled for July, will be held November 6-7 in New Orleans. DTS President Randy Blackburn says it will be a superior learning experience in a fun-filled environment. IDT Editor-in-Chief Peter Pizzi and board member Alex Wunsche both are part of the program, and Peter tells me he’s really excited to educate in front of a live audience again. For more information on the event, go to dental technicians society dot org. The CDC issued interim reopening guidelines for dental settings earlier this month. The updated guidelines include information on protocols in dental offices, but they also say that, quote, dental settings should balance the need to provide necessary services while minimizing risk to patients and dental healthcare personnel. Read the guidelines at the link below. This month in IDT, our annual Tech Issue is live online today. We have a cover story about artistry in technology, as well as four features written by experts about emerging technologies. We have Jed Archibald on augmented and virtual reality; Chuck Stapleton on multimaterial 3D printing; Chris Brown on printing ceramics; and Kevin Reck on printing in 4D. There are some really neat insights in there, so we hope you’ll check it out. Online this month at insidedentaltech.com, click the Inside Dentistry tab and then click Webinars to view a webinar with Dr. Marko Tadros on 3D printing. Dr. Tadros has lectured at various conferences on this subject, and he has some really interesting insights, so while this webinar is directed toward dentists, it’s worth watching for laboratories. Well, that’s it for this week. Join us again next time on IDT Weekly.
