Achieving Reliable Bonds to All Indirect Restorative Materials
Complementary products ensure easy and predictable placement
Innovative advancements in resin material science and photopolymerization technology are enhancing dentist and laboratory technician productivity without compromising the quality of patient care. Among these advancements are products designed specifically for cleaning prosthetic restorations after intraoral try-in (Ivoclean™), adhesive primers that chemically bind to treated surfaces to enhance long-term bonding (Monobond™ Plus), and clinically proven universal adhesive luting cements (Multilink® Automix Next Generation) that efficiently generate high bond strengths.
Ivoclean
Materials such as zirconia are susceptible to salivary contamination. Rinsing restorations with water only removes visible saliva, not the contaminating glycoproteins. Ivoclean opens phosphate molecules that facilitate bonding, allowing adhesive primers to chemically bind to the treated surfaces. Compatible with all types of restorations, Ivoclean speeds the cementation and seating process, resulting in less chair time. Unlike other cleaning pastes requiring multiple steps, it can simply be applied to the bonding surface of the restoration, rinsed, and dried.
Monobond Plus and Multilink Automix Next Generation
Monobond Plus is an adhesive primer that chemically binds to treated restoration surfaces, facilitating a predictable and long-term bond. When combined with the Multilink Automix system for adhesive cementation techniques, this process is further enhanced. The adhesive formula of Multilink Automix allows even easier clean-up of excess material using the quarter light-curing technique. Additional developments to the Multilink Automix system include a new shade, try-in pastes, and room temperature storage.
The strength of this clinically proven universal cementation system lies in its ability to generate high bond strengths to ensure the long-lasting adhesion of all types of restorative materials to tooth structure. Multilink Automix has been used successfully in more than 10 million indirect restorations, achieving excellent results in numerous clinical investigations, including long-term studies.
Adhesive Cementation Protocol
Clean the Restoration
Rinse the restoration, and coat the entire bonding surface using Ivoclean. Allow to react for 20 seconds, rinse, and then air dry.
Prime the Restoration
Apply Monobond Plus to the bonding surface of the restoration. Allow to react for 60 seconds, and then air dry.
Prepare the Dentin and Enamel
Scrub a 1:1 mixture of the A/B self-etching Multilink Primer into the tooth structure for 30 seconds, then air dry.
Cement
Dispense Multilink Automix (Figure 1) luting composite into the restoration and seat. Remove the excess cement from the margins (Figure 2), then light cure for 20 seconds from each aspect. Alternatively, allow the cement to self-cure.
Conclusion
When used in combination, Ivoclean, Mono-bond Plus, and Multilink Automix Next Generation complement each other to ensure the easy and predictable placement of indirect restorations, whether zirconia, metal-ceramic, or lithium disilicate (IPS® e.max).
