Amann Girrbach expands the opportunities for interdisciplinary cooperation
In combination with the cloud platform AG.Live, the modular Ceramill DRS (Direct Restoration Solution) System from Amann Girrbach ensures efficient workflows for simple and secure interdisciplinary collaboration between the laboratory and dental practice. A new feature will soon be added to this network: laboratories will be able to act as design centers for dentists. Networking of the AG.Live cloud platform with the Ceramill software products in the dental practice and laboratory enables this interdisciplinary workflow to come true. As of immediate effect, additional materials are also available for the fabrication of dental restorations: All composite and hybrid materials with universal mandrels can now be processed.
With the new "Laboratory Design Service" feature of the AG.Live cloud platform, the laboratory can offer dental practices an extended range of services and take over the design of restorations. The practice provides the laboratory with the case data together with the required intraoral scans via the AG.Live platform. The laboratory imports all the data, including the case files, into the Ceramill Mind CAD software and creates the design. Then, the file is transferred back to the practice. There, nesting and the subsequent milling process can be started directly. This feature will be released shortly with the Ceramill Update 4.4.
Options for Same-Day and Single-Visit-Dentistry
"With good timing, this creates perfect opportunities for high-quality same-day or even single-visit-dentistry with lab-based design," emphasizes Elena Bleil, Product Manager at Amann Girrbach, and adds, "This has benefits for both parties. The practice can draw on the expertise of the laboratory and focus entirely on treating the patients. This also allows capacity bottlenecks to be avoided. Laboratories can, in turn, add an innovative capability to their service portfolio while, at the same time, being a part of the practices' in-house process—something that, in the past, was restricted only to the large design service companies."
3rd Party IOS-compatible
The requirements for the Laboratory Design Service are quite simple. To use this feature, all that is required on the part of the laboratory is a Ceramill Update to Version 4.4. For intraoral scans, it is pos-sible to use scans performed with the Ceramill Map DRS as well as those created with intraoral scan-ners from other manufacturers. "Embarking on this new collaboration opportunity is therefore extremely uncomplicated—collaboration between users has never been so easy and at the same time so efficient," concludes Elena Bleil.
Material extension – all composite/hybrid materials with universal mandrels can now be processed
With the recently implemented Ceramill DRS Software Update 1.4, users can now process all composite or hybrid blocks in the Ceramill DRS system. The newly developed "Diamond Finish" milling strategy—a combination of milling and grinding—makes it possible to process composite or hybrid blocks (mixed plastic-ceramic material) in sizes I12, C14 and C14L at maximum precision and surface quality in all degrees of hardness. Depending on their size, molar crowns can be processed in approximately 30 minutes in Fast Mode and in approximately 35 minutes in HD Mode (see illustration).
