The dental support organization was honored in The Civic 50 Orange County for its commitment to serving local communities.
Pacific Dental Services® (PDS) has once again been named an honoree of The Civic 50 Orange County by OneOC and Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service. The award recognized PDS as one of the most community-minded companies in Orange County, as determined by an independently administered and scored survey. The Civic 50 Orange County initiative, modeled after Points of Light’s national program, provides a standard for superior corporate citizenship, and showcases how companies can use their time, skills and resources to drive social impact in their company and communities.
The Civic 50 Orange County honorees were officially recognized at the OneOC Civic 50 Orange County Reception on Sept. 29, 2022.
This year marks the fourth time PDS has received this award, having previously been recognized in 2017, 2019 and 2021.
“Service is the heartbeat of our company and our outlook,” said Stephen E. Thorne IV, Founder and CEO of Pacific Dental Services. “Selflessly serving our local communities has not only impacted others, but the hearts of our team members. We are humbled and honored to be recognized by OneOC and Points of Light and to be included in The Civic 50 once again.”
Since its inception in 1994, PDS has a long tradition and culture of service, supporting communities locally, regionally, and even across the globe. At the local level, PDS-supported practices regularly host drives to collect donated goods, support charity partnerships through sponsorships, and provide team members paid volunteer time to serve with an organization of their choice. The company’s 13,000+ team members work together annually to provide donated dental work and community service on Smile Generation Serve Day, build playgrounds with KABOOM!, and support Special Olympics International. Across the globe, PDS and its supported practices raise money annually for charity: water to help provide clean water to clean, safe drinking water to people in developing countries. Additionally, through partnerships with dental schools and non-governmental organizations, the PDS Foundation organizes international service trips to its dental clinic in Guatemala to provide mentorship, dental treatment and supplies. Through efforts such as these, the giving hands and hearts of PDS team members can be seen and felt throughout every community it serves.
