DMG, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of restorative materials and preventive products, announced that its Young Key Opinion Leader Program is celebrating its first anniversary and making significant progress toward its mission of helping to develop dentistry’s next generation of influencers.
“Key opinion leaders play a truly critical role that benefits not only dental practitioners, but dental product manufacturers as well. We are proud to help foster a new wave of thought leaders who will be able to have a great impact on the dental industry for years to come,” said George Wolfe, President DMG America.
DMG recruited four highly respected KOLs to serve as the program’s mentors at the group’s initial meeting at the CDS Midwinter Meeting in Chicago in February 2018: Lee Ann Brady, DMD; David Little, DDS; Elliot Mechanic, DDS; and David Rice, DDS.
These KOLs are currently mentoring nine rising stars selected for the program based on the outstanding promise they have demonstrated early in their careers:
• Albert Ambrize, DDS
• Celin Arce, DDS
• Katie DeWood, DMD
• Courtney Lavigne, DMD
• Nate Lawson, DMD, PhD
• Laura Picano, DDS
• Amisha Singh, DDS
• Sarah Slone, DMD
• Sarah Winter, DMD
The nine program members are receiving instruction and guidance from the mentors in a variety of areas, including:
• Writing clinical and practice management articles
• Scheduling and conducting lectures and webinars
• Communicating with the dental community using a wide variety of media (including blogs, podcasts, e-newsletters, videos, etc.)
• Evaluation of new products
The YKOL Program has partnered with Dental Economics to create the NextGen Leadership Showcase, a monthly series of articles written by program members. There will also be a series of webinars conducted by members.
Other YKOL Program initiatives include collaboration with Ignite DDS, which was founded by Dr. David Rice to mentor dental school students and young dentists who are in their first 10 years of practice, and with the American Society of Dental Aesthetics (ASDA), of which Dr. Elliot Mechanic is a fellow.
The YKOL Program has an international flavor thanks to DMG America’s global headquarters in Hamburg, Germany, which has a similar initiative called the Identity Program. The YKOL Program and the Identity Program are now able to compare notes and occasionally have one program’s members travel across the Atlantic to participate in the other program. For example, Dr. Amisha Singh recently participated in an Identity Program event in Hamburg.
In addition to preparing a brilliant, talented group of young clinicians to keep their generation of practitioners apprised of the technologies and techniques that can deliver the best possible dental care and practice productivity, the YKOL Program is providing DMG key insights to help ensure that its products and services will do an even better job of meeting the evolving needs of young dentists.
