The Golden Proportion is a ratio of 1.618. The ancient Greeks discovered it in nature, and Richard Lombardi, DDS, first described its use in dental esthetics in 1973. Lombardi advocated for the importance of order with a recurring ratio between all teeth from central incisor to the first premolar. PHI, the Golden Proportion waxing guide from Kolbeck Dental, incorporates measurements of the outer canthus of the eye; the mouth; the nose; and the central incisors to achieve optimal symmetry of facial proportions.
