So much of what you read in these pages focuses on overcoming the challenges associated with operating a profitable dental laboratory in the 21st century. While running a successful business is a grind, this profession is full of people who still manage to carve out time to help others in need.

This year's "Giving Back" feature spotlights a laboratory owner who does tens of thousands of dollars in pro bono cases for various charitable causes each year; an educator who finds time to offer free courses for university classes; and a technician who volunteers her skills to help create healthy smile makeovers for her state's most underserved residents.
