Efficiency and Quality in Milling

As the owner of a medium-sized laboratory producing high-end work, Alexander Wünsche, CDT, looks for efficiency without sacrificing quality. That made him IDT's choice to discuss Amann Girrbach's Ceramill Matik milling machine and Ceramill Zolid zirconia line.

Wünsche capitalizes on the variety within the Ceramill Zolid line. "Ceramill Zolid FX Multilayer is an esthetic, high-translucent zirconia that works well for single crowns," he says. "Ceramill Zolid HT+ offers higher opacity and strength for full-arch cases, and we also use it for layered restorations as a substructure. The new Ceramill Zolid Gen-X also is an amazing material for full-arch hybrids." The Ceramill Matik, meanwhile, allows Wünsche to also mill materials such as metals for PFM restorations or bars. "The variety that we can mill in that machine is almost endless," he says. The Matik's automation also has helped him implement a 4-day work week. "We have a smoother, more efficient workflow, and the Matik can work from Thursday night through Sunday on restorations that we designed Monday through Thursday," he says.
