Whip Mix Lean Education Symposium

Three laboratories honored at 2010 Lean conference.

Whip Mix Corp presented its first-ever Lean awards at this year’s Whip Mix Lean Education Symposium of Dental Technology, held September 23–24, 2010 in Louisville, Kentucky. Honored for successfully incorporating Lean principles into their workflow, three laboratories received the awards: Edmonds Dental Prosthetics, Perry and Young Inc, and Creative Expressions. Lean production focuses on optimizing workflow—the goal is to eliminate waste to improve quality while reducing labor and total costs.

During the 2-day conference, leading dental technicians delivered presentations on how to implement Lean principles in the laboratory, from the model room to the accounting office, and how those principles can promote FDA compliance and improve quality control. The symposium concluded with a guided tour of the Whip Mix manufacturing facility, which demonstrated how the company transformed by using the Lean system.
