More Work Ahead
We have exciting news for 2022. Thanks to the engagement from our readers, contributors, and advertisers, Inside Dental Hygiene will expand to six issues this year. We're grateful to have more opportunities to provide professional resources to this community.
This increase in content comes at a time when the meaning of "dental hygiene care" is shifting. The silo of dentistry (apart from other health care areas) is breaking down, and oral health care practitioners are stepping up to their expanded roles. From more oral-centric issues such as diet, smoking, and sleep apnea, providers' concerns have rightfully extended into other areas of the body, as studies elucidate oral health connections with rheumatoid arthritis, Alzheimer's, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and more.
Our current issue aptly illustrates how the meaning of patient care has been amplified. Both the feature and the continuing education articles address global issues that hygienists confront locally, while other columns discuss mental issues such as dental anxiety and self-care. Clearly, today's hygienist has an amazing number of specialty pathways to pursue.
To that end, Inside Dental Hygiene will continue to bring you the resources, education, and viewpoints that broaden and deepen the context of patient care. We're all in this together. Please visit our website (insidedentalhygiene.com), social media platforms, and continuing education portal (idh.cdeworld.com), and let us know what content you would like to see this year. Thank you for your continuing support.
