Ultrafast intraoral scanner for open CAD/CAM
Planmeca, the world’s largest privately held manufacturer of dental equipment, software, and digital imaging products, recently announced a strategic partnership with and investment in E4D Technologies. The partnership will strengthen both companies’ go-to market approach and accelerate global growth for E4D by increasing the focus on seamless integration of the CAD/CAM platform with additional digital solutions.
This newly formed partnership leverages the strengths of both organizations. E4D Technologies’ CAD/CAM hardware and software expertise, education, and support combines with Planmeca’s 2D (x-ray) and 3D (cone-beam) imaging and software technologies to expand the imaging applications and portfolio of products. As a result, both companies’ customers will benefit from the combination of unique and innovative products and services. Additionally, the two companies will share a new global association with product branding (for E4D’s NEVOTM) under the new Planmeca PlanScan name, driven by E4D’s technology, service, and support.
Improved Digital Workflow
The recently introduced Planmeca PlanScan® expands upon years of experience with powderfree image capture in the intraoral environment. It is the first scanner to use E4D’s patent-pending blue laser technology, which improves the ability to capture the fine details for exceptional quality data capture. Capturing every detail of the preparation on the screen enables the clinician to predictably design and mill precise restorations.
Together with Planmeca PlanCAD® design software, the Planmeca PlanMill® 40 gives dental professionals the ultimate in flexibility and productivity.
Share Files Easily
The greatest enhancement to the PlanScan System comes with the powerful image management available via Planmeca’s Romexis®. Romexis is a completely open image management system that integrates 2D and 3D images with virtually any system, allowing the dental professional to import and export image files.
Planmeca Romexis presents a user-friendly software package – it requires minimal training. Images can viewed anywhere using the mobile applications. Studies and cases can be quickly shared between clinics, helping dentists improve treatment planning for more specialized cases, such as implants, orthodontics, and endodontics.
Planmeca PlanScan has made intraoral imaging significantly easier, strengthening the practice and providing patients with comfortable and successful treatments, including same-day treatments and restorations. For a busy dental practice, this is significant–fast processing and alignment of scans are important when offering same-day dentistry. These features contribute to the accuracy of the restorations and the speed with which they can be created within the dental practice for enhanced performance.
