The Role of Proper Nutrition for Patients Undergoing Periodontal Surgery: A Scoping Review
Nadine M. Tassabehji, PhD, RDN, LDN; Yu-Fang Lao, MS, RD; and Irina F. Dragan, DDS, DMD, MS, eMBA
In this scoping review, the authors reviewed the literature to identify and examine articles on nutrition intervention for postoperative recovery of patients receiving periodontal surgery, including articles that presented data on correlated patterns of dietary intake of specific foods and postsurgical periodontal healing. The findings of this study may assist dental practitioners in developing evidence-based treatment plans and including nutrition intervention as part of the discharge instructions for periodontal surgery patients.
