New Advancements in Flowable Dual-Cured Bulk-Fill Composites
Patrick Roetzer, DDS, FACD, FICD
Among the most commonly used dental materials since their introduction in the 1960s, flowable resin composites are restorative materials with excellent esthetics, offering enamel shades that are highly similar to those of natural teeth, and they have an improved ability to bond with enamel and dentin compared with amalgam or glass ionomer. This article describes advancements made in flowable composites, particularly some of the new dual-cured bulk-fill composites, that have allowed for their applicability in load-bearing, highly abrasive areas, such as the posterior teeth.
