Volume 42 eBook 6
This Compendium eBook features a continuing education (CE) article that describes a workflow to fabricate monolithic ceramic restorations with CAD/CAM technology. A second CE article describes a patient who presented with dentoalveolar extrusion of the maxillary anterior teeth as a secondary condition to tooth erosion from reflux. A case report illustrates the ways intraoral scans promote instantaneous and effective communication, decreasing production time and facilitating creation of an accurate restoration. CE1: Esthetic Restoration of Severely Discolored and Periodontically Compromised Teeth With Novel Digital Workflow
Julian Conejo, DDS, MSc; Telmo Santos; Pablo J. Atria, DDS, MSc; Aledy Moreta, DMD; and Markus Blatz, DMD, PhD
This CE article describes a workflow to fabricate monolithic ceramic restorations with CAD/CAM technology by combining acquisition software of an intraoral scanner with a design software, improving the macro- and micro-anatomy. In this case, the treatment included ceramic restorations to close the patient’s diastemas and mask tooth discoloration, in addition to a partial removable prosthesis to replace missing mandibular incisors.
